Police Arrest 4 KIA Vietnam for Illegal-Fishing in Natuna Sea Area
Batam, Batamnews - Four units of Vietnamese-flagged foreign fishing boats (KIA) that carried out fishing theft activities were secured by the Patrol Ship Ditpolairud Baharkam Polri KP. Bisma-8001 in North Natuna Waters.
"The ship was secured in the Natuna waters, KIA has also illegally caught fish in the North Natuna area which is included in the Exclusive Economic Zone, and entered Indonesian waters," said Komjen Pol Arief Sulistyanto, Tuesday (31/8/2021).
He continued, the ship had been towed to Batu Ampar Pier, Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri). as many as 36 crew members and 4 captains, as well as 4 ships, and also 1 ton of fish, were also secured.
As it is known, as many as 9 units of ships under the operational command of the Riau Islands Police are stationed in Riau Islands waters.
Not only that, from the 9 ships there is 1 high-ranking officer with the rank of Brigadier General to serve as a supervisor as well as controller and coordinate with the Riau Islands Police Chief to cooperate in maritime security.
"In addition, collaboration and synergy are also carried out with other relevant agencies such as the Director-General of PSDKP, TNI AL, and Customs. So with this collaboration, even though we work with different laws, we determine to secure the marine territory of the Republic of Indonesia and then safeguard the wealth of the Republic of Indonesia. nature in the sea," he explained.
Furthermore, the Director-General of PSDKP Rear Admiral TNI Adin Nurawaluddin also said the same thing.
"We carry out the mandate of the law given to us and there is no word no, there is no word of compromise to eradicate illegal fishing in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
The loss to the state that was saved from the four fishing boats reached more than Rp. 1 trillion per year. It will then be handed over to the PSDKP investigator.
