Batam Plans to Implement Shift System Once the School Reopens

Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi.

Batam - Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi plans to reopen teaching and learning activities in schools. After 4 months, the teaching and learning process has been carried out from home. Previously, the study schedule in school was revised several times.

He will call the school for a joint meeting along with members of the Batam City Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) related to the system that will be run if learning at the school reopens. Later at the meeting, we can find out the school's capacity.

It was planned that the teaching and learning process in schools would be implemented in a shift system, to maintain distance.

"There is a school that has one shift, it can be divided into two, morning and evening, one class with 40 children can be divided into two shifts," he said.

But according to him, the problem was if there were schools that implement two shifts. According to him, it could be another problem that a joint solution had to be found.

Besides, the next requirement for schools could be opened if parents agree that their children go to school and come home from school. This anticipates students not to wander around after school for physical distancing.

"Later if the school opens, there is no break time, they only study in class, tomorrow it will be closed together, and decided together," he said.
