Batam, Batamnews - Two cities in the Riau Islands (Kepri), Batam and Tanjungpinang are included in the list of 15 non-Java-Bali cities/regencies that implement Emergency PPKM. The Batam Government, Riau Islands immediately held a coordination meeting to address the determination.

The Mayor of Batam, HM Rudi, in a coordination meeting with Forkopimda in Engku Putri Plain, Friday (9/7/2021) afternoon said that the Emergency PPKM status only took effect Monday (12/7/2021), starting at 00.00 WIB.

Rudi emphasized that Emergency PPKM only applies to block community activities that cause crowds. Like no more wedding activities or anything else.

"The blockage is at the crowd point. We will collect any points later," he said.

For this insulation, Rudi acknowledged that it serves to reduce the current mobility of the community, which is considered still not complying with the implementation of health protocols in the field.

"For that, I seek for understanding. Since Monday's closure has been carried out, there will be no more questions about what is happening in Batam at this time," he said.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto in a virtual press conference on the determination of 15 non-Java-Bali districts/cities implementing Emergency PPKM said these areas would follow the Emergency PPKM rules that have been implemented in Java and Bali.
