The Smuggling of Ecstasy Worth 9 Billion IDR Revealed by Customs and the Police of Batam

Batam, Batamnews - The smuggling of 43,795 ecstasy pills worth IDR 9 billion was stopped by Batam Customs (BC) and Criminal Investigation Unit at National Police Headquarters. Illegal goods originate from Malaysia.
TKPs around Tanjung Piayu Beach, Sei Beduk, Batam, Friday (19/3/2021) and at Utama Houseware, Baloi, Batam, Saturday (20/3/2021).
Head of the Batam Customs and Excise Office, Susila Brata, explained that the joint team of KPU and PSO BC Batam, the Narcotics Sub-Directorate and Bareskrim at the Police Headquarters received information regarding this smuggling.
"According to information on goods from Malaysia. The joint team is conducting an investigation and getting directions, ”said Susila, Thursday (25/3/2021).
Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 05.30 WIB, the Joint Team found a large green bag around Tanjung Piayu Beach which was suspected of containing narcotics.
A man with the initials A who will pick up the bag is secured. "Then we continued to develop, so the team managed to secure two men with the initials FK and MA who were going to take the bag," said Susila.
It was true, evidence of 9 packs of ecstasy narcotics with a net weight of 13,124 grams (13 kg) or a total of 43,795 items, with an estimated value of around Rp. 9 billion in the bag.
The two suspects' cellphones and vehicles were also secured. "Currently, the suspect and evidence have been brought to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police Headquarters for further legal processing," said Susila.
The three are charged with Law No.35 of 2009 on narcotics, Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) with the threat of death penalty/life imprisonment, or at least 6 years and the longest. 20 years, and a maximum fine of IDR 10 billion.
