Batam Residents to Prepare for Covid-19 Vaccination

Batam - The central government brought in 1.2 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine produced by Sinovac Biotech. The vaccine has arrived in Indonesia, imported from China.

Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi said that his party was still waiting for instructions from the central government. "Until now there has been no letter from the Ministry of Health, we don't know how the process is," said Rudi, Monday (7/12/2020).

Rudi conveyed that from the temporary information he received, the distribution process of the Covid-19 vaccine was carried out in two stages, the first phase in December 2020 or January 2021, the second in February or March 2021.

"We do not yet know how much. We are waiting for directions from the central government for anyone," he said.

Later, the central government will create a distribution scheme, for example, the priority in the first phase is health and security personnel.

Head of the Covid-19 Task Force (Satgas) Health Division, Didi Kusmarjadi, added that currently, the party is making preparations by calculating the needs.

He detailed the needs of around five thousand vaccines for medical personnel, firefighters, police, and others, and aged 18-50 years. He continued if Batam's needs are in accordance with its population.

Regarding the types of vaccines to be received later, Didi said that according to the Minister of Health's decree number HK.01.07 / Menkes / 9896/2020, there are six types of vaccines that can be used in the vaccination process in Indonesia.

The six vaccines are produced by Bio Farma, Astra Zeneca, China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (Sinopharm), Moderna, Pfizer Inc and BioNtech, and Sinovac BioNtech.
