Indonesian Navy Captures Two Vietnamese Vessels in Natuna Waters

Two Vietnamese fishing boats were captured in Natuna waters.

Batam - Indonesian Navy from the Combat Luat (Guspurla) Headquarters of Koarmada I succeeded in capturing two fishing vessels from Vietnam who were fishing illegally in North Natuna on Saturday (18/7).

The capture of these two Vietnamese vessels was detected when KRI Yos Sudarso-353 was patrolling the Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lane (ALKI) I.

"After the allegation was approached, it was true that the Vietnamese fishing boat that was carrying out fishing activities in the North Natuna waters was approximately 25 miles north of Sekatung Island," explained KRI Commander Yos Sudarso, Marine Lt. Col. Maman Nurrohman, in his statement on Saturday (Saturday) 7/18/2020).

Maman explained, the process of securing two fishing vessels from Vietnam with the hull number of the ship 0274 TS TS and BV 0887 TS could not evade after being approached by KRI Yos Sudarso-353.

"Because the fishing gear in the form of trawl nets that he has was being spread, this was strong evidence that the two ships were carrying out illegal fishing activities in Indonesian waters," he explained.

From the results of the capture of the two Vietnamese fishing vessels, the officers managed to secure 10 Vietnamese crew members who were taken to Lanal Ranai for further inspection.

"This is a manifestation of the commitment of KRI soldiers in securing the territorial waters of the Republic of Indonesia in Natuna."

Arriving at Lanal (Naval base) Ranai, Lanal Ranai Commander Colonel Laut (P) Dofir immediately checked the health of the crew according to the Covid-19 protocol and was completely sterilized.
