Batam - Batam Reservoir continues to experience a shrinking issue. After the Sei Harapan Reservoir was on the verge of a crisis, the Duriangkang reservoir as the main clean water supplier in Batam had also experienced a water deficit of up to 225 liters per second.

This was due to the decreasing rainfall in Batam to 2000 mm per day. The rainfall that falls can also not be maximized because of the declining reliability of the water catchment area. In addition, water demand is also increasing due to population growth.

Overcoming the threat of drought in Batam, the Batam Business Agency (BP) in collaboration with the Technology Assessment and Application Agency (BPPT) is utilizing Weather Modification Technology (TMC).

This technology began in June 11, 2020, to return the water level to a normal level so that it can meet the people's clean water needs in the dry season.

The application of TMC in Batam is deliberately carried out in the rainy season because it depends on the potential of the clouds to ensure the successful application of the technology.

The process of implementing TMC in Batam uses flare seedlings because it is believed to be suitable with the topography of Batam City.

The process of implementing TMC from 07.00 WIB until 17.00 WIB, began with a briefing, analysis of the potential for rain and seeding.

From TMC procurement in the Duriangkang sky, the water level in the Duriangkang Reservoir has now risen to 37 cm by the end of June 2020.
