Riau Islands Entered the Top 10 National MTQ XXIX in South Kalimantan

Batam - Riau Islands Province won 6 prestigious trophies at the XXIX National Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran or MTQ (MTQ- Internationally known as Indonesia International Quran Competition) in South Kalimantan on October 13-19. 

The participants who competed were under the leadership of the caravan leader Tengku Afrizal Dachlan, Deputy III of the Riau Islands Provincial DPRD, and the supervisor of the Riau Islands Tilawatil Qur'an Development Institute (LPTQ).

Deputy Governor of Riau Islands, also the General Chair of the Riau Islands LPTQ Marlin Agustina Rudi, said that it was not easy for participants from Riau Islands to achieve this achievement, considering that the opponents from other caravans were tough enough to conquer.

But finally managed to enter seventh place in the top 10 ranking of the XXIX National MTQ in 2022. According to her, this is an extraordinary achievement, so the Riau Islands should be reckoned with in similar events.

"Alhamdulillah, we are in the top 10 thanks to our hard work and prayers so that we can make the Riau Islands proud," said Marlin Agustina, who attended the closing ceremony at the Main Astaka Kiram Park, Banjar regency, South Kalimantan, Tuesday (18/10/2022).

The Daily Executive Secretary of the Riau Islands LPTQ, Riama Manurung, said that those who won the MTQ championship were M. Aria Marshal, the first winner in the children's recitation branch.

Nanda Anan Mumtaz won three branches of juz and recitations, Atikah Dwi Lestari also won three branches of Indonesian interpretation branch, and Zulaikha was the second winner of the Qira'at Murottal Youth branch. Syamimi Assahira won the first branch of 5 juz and recitations, and Leni Marlinda won the first champion of the blind disability branch.

"Participants from Riau Islands that we bring are the native sons and daughters of Riau Islands. Alhamdulillah, 6 participants entered the final, and three people won 1st place, one won 2nd place, and two won third place," said Riama.

She hopes that this achievement is at least able to be maintained by other participants for the upcoming biennial event and hopes that later Kepri must be included in the top 5.

Riau Islands participated in all branches of competition at the national MTQ in 8 branches and 23 groups. The number of participants was 54, consisting of 27 men and 27 women. 

The number of participants from 34 provincial caravans in Indonesia was 1,676. The activity was officially closed by the Deputy Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia, Zainut Tauhid Sa'adi.
