PLTS Domestic Investors Interested in Making One in the Riau Islands

Batam, Batamnews - Riau Islands attract investors to invest in building a Solar Power Plant (PLTS).

One company that was interested in investing in the energy sector was PT Insan Fajar Mandiri Nusantara (IFMN).

Commissioner of PT IFMN Parlindungan Purba conveyed their intention to choose Riau Islands for PLTS development because of the geographical condition of this province which is separated from islands, as well as the status of FTZ with hundreds of industrial areas.

In addition, to realize President Joko Widodo's plan to increase the use of new and renewable energy (EBT).

"And it's certainly cheaper than coal power plants. It's also free of pollution because it's environmentally friendly," he said, Monday (4/10/2021).

The investment plan was welcomed by Governor Ansar Ahmad. He was interested in PLTS, which was called a potential investor, which could save up to 20 percent of electricity.

"I welcome the investment intentions conveyed by PT IFMN for the PLTS development plan in the Riau Islands region. What is important is for the progress of the Riau Islands," said Ansar.

Nevertheless, he suggested that a thorough study be conducted to determine for sure the proper development potential in Riau Islands.

Either, in the form of a pattern of cooperation or other development, or collaboration with PLN or industrial estates.

"The government will make it easier in the form of regulations as long as it is for the betterment of the community. Later I will ask Assistant 2 Pak Syamsul Bahrum from the provincial government to handle this," said Ansar.
