Batam, Batamnews - Riau Islands Governor, Ansar Ahmad is confirmed positive for Covid-19. After the results of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test came out at the Raja Ahmad Thabib Hospital, Tanjungpinang, Sunday

"At 10.00 WIB, a swab sample was taken. At 15.00 WIB he was declared positive. Examination at the RAT Hospital," explained Tjetjep Yudiana, Spokesperson for Handling the Covid-19 of the Riau Islands Provincial Government, Sunday (11/7/2021).

This information was previously confirmed by a Batamnews source at the Riau Islands Provincial Government. "Yes, reportedly returned from Natuna yesterday," said the source, Sunday (11/7/2021).

Acting Head of Protocol Public Relations and Liaison Office of the Riau Islands Provincial Government, Hasan said Ansar Ahmad's condition is currently stable.

"Thank God (Ansar Ahmad)'s condition is fine. He is now at Batu 7's house (Tanjungpinang)," said Hasan.

Currently, a video conference is being held by the Riau Islands Provincial Government. A number of Riau Islands Provincial Government officials were also said to have had close contact with the governor. Currently, contact tracing and examination are being carried out, including the wife and other families of Ansar Ahmad.
