More Than 1 Million Riau Islands Residents Have Been Vaccinated Against Covid-19

Batam, Batamnews - The Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri) targets the achievement of the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination to be 100 percent by the end of October 2021.

Until August 26, 2021, the achievement of vaccination in Riau Islands has reached 73.43 percent.

Governor of Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad, said that his party is currently continuing to carry out vaccinations for the people of Riau Islands.

"It is our obligation (to reach 100 percent)," said Ansar after reviewing the implementation of vaccinations at Perum Permata Laguna, Tanjunguncang, Batam, Friday (27/8/2021).

He said that 73.42 percent of people aged 18 years and over have been vaccinated, or 1,008,473 people have been vaccinated, while the remaining 364,899 people have been vaccinated. While the vaccination targets amounted to 1,373,372 people.

"For the second dose, 26.9 percent has been achieved," he said.

While pursuing the first dose of vaccination, Ansar emphasized that his party will also continue to carry out the second dose of vaccination.

For children aged 12-17 years, the vaccination achievement was 57.01 percent or 118,395 children from the 2017 target of 663 children for the first dose. While the achievement of the second dose was 17.25 percent or 35,826 children.

"Today's vaccine stock is still 76,000 doses," he said.

With this stock, Ansar said that he would distribute it to regencies/cities and divided it according to the amount needed.
