Riau Islands Rush Vaccination of Children for Face-to-Face Learning Preparation

Tanjungpinang, Batamnews - Vaccination for teenagers aged 12 to 17 years in the Riau Islands Province has reached 61.79 percent.

With the target of youth vaccination in Riau Islands opening 128,321 children, currently, 79,342 children have not been immunized.

This was conveyed by the Governor of Riau Islands Ansar Ahmad when he witnessed the vaccination attack at SMAN 4 Tanjungpinang, Monday (30/8/2021).

"With such an achievement, perhaps Riau Islands is one of the highest provinces for vaccinations among teenagers, so we must continue to hurry to make it even more massive for vaccination of children," said Ansar.

The vaccination campaign for students this time is a program carried out by Kogabwilhan I in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and the Riau Islands Provincial Government.

Also present to witness the vaccination was Pangkogabwilhan I Rear Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali and Dharma Wanita Advisor for the Association of the Ministry of Transportation Endang Budi Karya.

Ansar explained that vaccination for school children is the main key for the return of the Riau Islands education world to normal. Indeed, since the beginning of the pandemic, which began in 2020, learning in schools has been encouraged by online learning from home.

To reopen learning in schools, Governor Ansar admitted that he would only allow it if the Covid-19 pandemic in Riau Islands had subsided.

This is indicated by the positivity rate in Riau Islands already below 5 percent according to WHO standards and PPKM in Riau Islands dropping to Level II.
