Smugglers Dump Hundreds of Thousands of Lobster Seeds into the Sea

Karimun, Batamnews- Lanal Tanjungbalai Karimun's F1QR team foiled the smuggling of lobster seeds (fry).

A speed boat was secured by the Indonesian Navy in the waters of Rukan Island, Moro District, Karimun Regency, Riau Islands, Monday (28/6/2021) early in the morning.

"At 03.45 WIB, the F1QR Team detected the sound of a speed boat engine and monitored 1 unit of a high-speed speedboat suspected of being an illegal perpetrator. The team then immediately gave chase," said Danlanal Karimun Marine Lt. Col. (F) Puji Basuki.

This operation was carried out after the previous team received information regarding the smuggling of this fry.

It is suspected that the fry will be smuggled into Singapore. Inside is a load of hundreds of thousands of fry.

There were as many as 15 boxes that the perpetrators threw into the sea to eliminate evidence. Box contains 479 bags of friesben

"After the chase, the team lost the speed boat. However, the officers continued to search and found a styrofoam box filled with fry," he said.

From the results of the enumeration, there were two types of lobsters found, including the type of sand (119,750 fish) and the type of pearl (1,000 fish).

Danlanal explained that the shrimp fry smuggling activity violated the criminal elements of Article 92 Junto Article 26 of Law no. 31 of 2004 concerning Fisheries as amended through Law no. 45 of 2008.

Then, Law. No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation Chapter III fourth part Paragraph 2 article 92 Junto Article 26 with a maximum penalty of 8 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 1,5 billion.
