Batam, Batamnews- Entrepreneurs who are members of the Batam Readymix Employers Association are in the midst of a granite raw material crisis. This is alleged because the supplier or producer of granite from Karimun takes advantage of more demand from Singapore.

Singapore's demand is allegedly very high to Karimun. This is because other granite producers in Malaysia are not operating, due to the lockdown in the country.

However, as a result, domestic demand, especially Batam, has become difficult. Readymix concrete entrepreneurs in Batam were 'desperate'.

Prices for local needs are increasingly unstable, tending to soar, even if there are stocks of these raw materials. This condition has been going on for two months.

Chairman of the Batam Readymix Entrepreneurs Association, Alizar hopes that there will be efforts and regulations related to the supply of granite from the government.

"We have written to 12 granite producing companies in Karimun. The answer will be later, and wait in line. We are waiting for no certainty, granite does not come," said Alizar, in vicon via Zoom, Wednesday (14/7/2021).

In addition to the producers, the Batam Readymix Entrepreneurs Association also wrote a letter to the Governor of Riau Islands with the letter number 02/PA-GUBKEPRI/BATAM/VII/2021 dated July 2, 2021, regarding the request.

"We are writing to the government, in this case the Governor of Riau Islands, so that there is mediation to provide a solution to the association's complaints. Because this has an impact on state and private projects, it could stall if the supply of granite does not come in," said Alizar.

The chairman of the Advisory Board of the Batam Readymix Entrepreneurs Association, Tan Sun Hok, said that there are 10 readymix entrepreneurs in Batam. Batam's need for readymix is ​​approximately 80 thousand tons per month. Of this amount, 40 thousand to 60 thousand tons of granite raw materials are needed.
