Batam, Batamnews - The Batam Concession Agency (BP) and the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) are currently implementing Weather Modification Technology (Artificial Rain) in Batam at this time.

Quoted from the bpbatam.go.id page, TMC is said to be locking up clouds that will lead to the reservoir's catchment area (DTA) and seeding, so that it is getting swift and only focuses on the reservoir catchment area.

Based on the forecast from BMKG, namely that in the last weeks
of June in Riau Islands, it is predicted that there will be an
increase in rain.

BP Batam said that the Weather Modification Technology to accelerate rain was carried out by locking the coordinates around the Duriangkang Reservoir and Muka Kuning Reservoir areas.

"After the clouds that are in the vicinity of the reservoir watershed coordinates enter, then initiation is carried out in the clouds to reduce rain at the designated location. This is done to increase the volume of rain in the reservoir which currently still needs to be increased due to prolonged drought," explained BP.

Apart from the influence of the wind, the occurrence of rain around the Duriangkang and Muka Kuning reservoir water catchment areas resulted in the formation of a microclimate that could cause rain and the influence of the wind that brought it to several locations that were not targeted by the BPPT TMC
Team. 
 
"By locking the coordinates for the application of weather modification technology, it is hoped that the target of falling rain follows the desired position to increase the water level of the reservoir for the benefit of water availability for all Batam people
and industrial areas," explained the BP Batam page.
