Batam, Batamnews - Thousands of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) returned to Indonesia through Riau Islands Province ahead of Eid.

Two cities in Riau Islands have become the entry points for PMI, namely Batam and Tanjungpinang.

Before returning to their hometowns, these PMIs had to undergo isolation in transit cities, one of which was Batam.

Head of Batam Health Office (Dinkes), Didi Kusmarjadi, said that the number of PMIs undergoing isolation in Batam had shrunk.

As of May 17, 2021, the total number of PMIs who still underwent isolation in Batam reached 66 people.

"The initial number of PMI who undergo the isolation as of May 16, 2021, is only 9 people," said Didi, Tuesday (18/5/2021).

The number of PMIs has increased, because the number of PMIs who arrived in Batam on May 17 was 57 people. So that the total PMI who are currently undergoing isolation is 66 people.

"The number of PMI consists of 34 men, and 32 women," he said.

They undergo isolation in the Batam Concession Agency (BP) flats in the Tanjunguncang area, Batuaji. Meanwhile, PMI does not live in another flat.

"The other flat is empty, now only the BP Batam flat is occupied," he said.
