Batam Send Hundreds of Swab Samples to Balitbangkes Examining Corona Mutations

Batam, Batamnews - The Batam Environmental Health and Disease Control Engineering Center (BTKL-PP) continues to send swab samples to the Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes).

"Continues to send (samples) to Balitbangkes periodically," said the Head of BTKL PP Batam, Budi Santosa, Thursday (6/5/2021).

From the sample given, Budi said no results were showing the findings of a new variant of Covid-19. However, the sample research process is still being carried out at Balitbangkes.

"Lastly, the samples we sent were on April 29, 2021," he said.

He conveyed that the research process took one to two weeks to get results. The samples sent were 130 samples.

The sample was used for the Whole Sequencing Genome (WGS) test.

It should be noted, WGS is an effort made by the government to map the Covid-19 variant that entered Indonesia.

"The criteria (samples) of CT values ​​are below 29. We collect this first after we send it to Balitbangkes," he said.

Meanwhile for External Quality Consolidation (PME), where the samples used were 10 negative samples for Covid and 20 positive samples for Covid-19.

Therefore, the total number of samples sent was 30 samples. "PME is also carried out regularly," he said.
