Tanjungpinang, Batamnews - The Riau Islands Province Education Authority (Disdik) will propose around 6,000 high school teachers and equivalent in seven districts/cities in Riau Islands to get Covid-19 vaccination under the Ministry of Health.

The proposal is in accordance with the statement of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, who targets all schools in Indonesia to start implementing face-to-face learning as of July 2021.

"I hope that the proposal will be approved by the Ministry of Health because all teachers will certainly be vaccinated before July or the face-to-face teaching and learning process will be carried out," said the Head of the Riau Islands Education Department Muhammad Dali in Tanjungpinang, Tuesday (16/3/2021).

However, Dali does not yet know the schedule for the implementation of vaccination for teachers in the Riau Islands because technically it is regulated by the central government.

"This is what regulates the center, and whether the quota of vaccines is through the Ministry of Education and Culture or is entrusted on the way for civil servants to Riau Islands," he said.

Furthermore, Dali said that it was possible that from the total quota of 6,000 teachers that had been proposed by vaccine recipients, some of them had already been vaccinated according to the availability of vaccines in each district/city.

"If there is a vaccine why not. The vaccination data is national, if there are teachers who have been vaccinated, they will find out," said Dali.

"If the teacher has been vaccinated, parents do not need to worry anymore if their child is divided in school directly," he said.
