Bintan - During January to February 2021, land fires often occur in Bintan Regency. In the last two months, hundreds of hectares of forest and land have been burnt.

Bintan Police Chief, AKBP Bambang Sugihartono said that its members always monitor and supervise the area in Bintan Regency.

"Members of the police in Bintan, from the police to the police, are always alert to the situation that occurs. In particular, the forest and land fires are also of concern to the police for handling up to prosecution, "said Bambang.

Hot weather, strong winds, and entering the dry season make the current condition very vulnerable and prone to forest and land fires.

But on the other hand, there are irresponsible people taking advantage of this dry weather situation and conditions. They deliberately set fire to clear land.

"We continue to investigate. If we find any indication of this deliberate forest and land fire, we will act decisively. We arrest the perpetrators, we will be prosecuted until they are brought to court so that the perpetrators can be rewarded accordingly, "stated the Police Chief.

The Regent of Bintan, Apri Sujadi appealed to the public to be aware of forest and land fires.

"Don't open a new business by burning lands because the weather is hot and strong winds now. Therefore this will make the fire more difficult to control. We will also coordinate with the police and other vertical agencies in preventing forest and land fires," he said.
