Crocodile That Often Eats Catfish Livestock in Tanjungpinang Is Caught

Tanjungpinang - A 2.5-meter long crocodile was caught by residents of Batu IX Village, East Tanjungpinang, Thursday (17/12/2020).

Head of RT 01/10, Rumono, said that crocodile often terrorized catfish farmers in the area.

"Over the past few months, a crocodile has frequently entered the residents' yards and disturb catfish farmers," said Rumono, the head of RT 01 / RW 10.

The residents finally found a crocodile entering the garden and eating catfish. Finally, the animal was caught by the residents.

"Catfishes have been eaten by a crocodile, so they do surveillance to catch the crocodile," he explained.

He said that the owner of the farm had suffered quite a large loss, nearly 10,000 catfishes were eaten by crocodiles.

"There are about 10 thousand fish that run out, usually when you go to the fish pond you can see the fish swimming in the pond," he said.

Rumono said the crocodile would be handed over to the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) for further processing and returned to its habitat.

"The crocodile from the estuary there, for that, we submit it to BPBD for services," he said.
