Batam - Five suspects of drug cases were arrested by Barelang Police. The five of them were arrested at different locations. They were the methamphetamine couriers who hid a total of 11.5 Kg of evidence.

Kapolresta Barelang, AKBP Yos Guntur Yudi in a written statement on Tuesday (1/9/2020) said the suspects namely B (44) and S (39) were both residents of Tanjungbatu Karimun, then YS (21) was a resident of Tanjung Buntung, Batam, TS (21) was a resident of Sarmen Bengkong Housing, Batam, and JM (23) was a resident of Tembilahan.

B and S were arrested in the waters of Terong Island, Belakang Padang on Wednesday (26/8/2020) morning. The police initially confiscated a rice sack containing eight packages of methamphetamine. The package was packaged in a biscuit wrapper. They received the illegal goods at sea from smugglers who brought them from Malaysia to Batam.

The goods were planned to be delivered to Riau. B and S admitted that they were ordered by W alias Wak who was in the Tanjungbatu area to pick up the goods from Batam waters and deliver them to Tembilahan.

They were paid Rp. 6 million per package, where one packet of methamphetamine was calculated as 1 kg. After securing the two, the police investigated the parties who ordered or received the methamphetamine package.

Wednesday (26/8/2020) evening around 22.30 WIB in the parking lot in front of Hotel Harmoni Tembilahan YS and TS were arrested.

The two of them were ordered by JJ (DPO / Malaysia) to pick up 5 packages of crystal methamphetamine out of the 8 packages brought by B and S, both were paid IDR 5 million per package.

Thursday (27/8/2020) in the morning at 12:15 a.m., JM was arrested on the side of Jalan Kartini Simpang 3, Harmoni Tembilahan Hotel where they were about to take the rest of the other methamphetamine packages from B and S.
