Bintan, Batamnews - A tragic incident occurred at a cafe in the Pasar Baru Tanjunguban area of Bintan, Kepri, on Friday night (12/05). An elderly man named DJ (59) was killed after being assaulted by ER (32), a man who had frequently felt insulted and belittled.

The police have conducted an investigation into the perpetrator, ER, and based on their findings, ER confessed to taking the life of DJ. The perpetrator admitted that his actions were driven by the bitterness resulting from being constantly demeaned and humiliated by the victim.

"He often felt underestimated and insulted by the victim. This led the suspect to feel hurt and harbor resentment," said the Head of Public Relations at Bintan Regional Police, Iptu Missyamsu Alson, on Saturday (13/5).

The perpetrator, ER, hails from Teluk Sebong District, while the victim, DJ, was a resident of Taman Sari RT 007/RW 002 in Tanjunguban, Bintan Utara District.

Furthermore, Alson explained that the assault occurred on Friday night (12/5). At that time, the perpetrator entered the cafe and saw DJ sitting with someone else. Without hesitation, ER approached the victim and assaulted him with punches, kicks, and stomps.

After venting his anger, ER immediately left the scene and hid in the Bukit Senyum area of Lancang Kuning Village, Bintan Utara District.

"The suspect was waiting for someone at Bukit Senyum. The police successfully apprehended him at that location," revealed Alson.

The police have arrested ER and will conduct further investigations into the case. The perpetrator will face legal proceedings in accordance with his actions that resulted in the loss of DJ's life.

This case serves as a reminder to everyone to maintain an attitude and behavior that respects others. Insults and demeaning treatment can have serious consequences and potentially lead to unwanted incidents.
