Two Unidentified Women Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances at Lovina Inn Hotel in Batam, Riau Islands

Batam, Batamnews - Two women were found dead under suspicious circumstances in one of the rooms of Lovina Inn Hotel, Lubuk Baja, Batam, Riau Islands on Sunday (23/4/2023) afternoon. The two women, whose identities are unknown, were found in a room by hotel staff.

The Lubuk Baja Police Chief, Kompol Yudhi Arvian confirmed the discovery of the two women. However, Yudi could not provide further details about the cause of their death.

"Yes, we received initial information from the hotel staff and immediately evacuated the bodies of both victims," said Yudhi on Monday (24/4/2023).

According to him, the identities of the two victims are still unknown, as they checked in without identification. Therefore, the authorities are still investigating with the help of CCTV footage from the hotel.

"We did not find any identification belonging to the victims. We are still investigating, including checking the CCTV footage of the hotel," he said.

The two bodies were immediately evacuated to the Bhayangkara Polda Kepri Hospital for autopsy, according to Yudhi. The police are still waiting for the autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death of the two women.

"We cannot conclude yet as it is still under investigation, and the autopsy results have not been released yet as it is still being conducted by the hospital," he said.

As of Monday (24/4/2023), the police have not found any identification cards belonging to the two women who stayed in room 318.

Based on visuals obtained by Batamnews, two women, each wearing brown and yellow jackets, were found in different conditions in one room.

The woman in the yellow jacket was found lying lifeless on the bed. The other woman in the brown jacket was found hanging.

The woman on the bed had a cloth that was suspected to have strangled her around her neck.

The woman in the bathroom was seen hanging a black-and-white patterned cloth. She appeared to be wearing a light brown sweater and black-and-white patterned pants.

According to the Lubuk Baja Police Chief, they checked in without identification. Thus, there was no identification found at the scene.

"There was no identification, and we are still trying to determine who these two victims are," said Yudhi on Monday.

He explained that the two women were long-stay guests who stayed for more than a day. They entered the room on April 16, 2023, and were found dead on Sunday (23/4).

"Yes, they were at the hotel since the 16th until they were found dead," he said.

When asked if they were illegal Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) or not, Yudhi could not confirm as it is still under investigation.

"We cannot confirm yet. Please wait because it is still under investigation, and we have been working on it since we found the bodies, and the bodies are still being autopsied at the Bhayangkara Polda Kepri Hospital," he explained.

Previously, two women were found dead in quite gruesome conditions in one of the rooms at Lovina Inn Hotel, Lubuk Baja. The police received information from hotel staff and immediately evacuated the bodies of both victims.
