Dozens of Striped Geckos From Batam Fail to Be Exported

Batam, Batamnews - Members of the Directorate of Asset Security (Ditpam) of the Batam Concession Agency (BP), prevented the process of sending animals and plants from Batam to Pekanbaru, at the Sekupang Domestic Port, Batam, Riau Islands (Kepri), Friday (11/5/2021) then.

“In addition to animals and plants, as many as 96 boxes of HP cases were also secured. The goods will be processed by Batam Agricultural Quarantine officers because they do not have complete documents," said Kurniawan.

He explained that before being stopped, RY initially met a member of the Ditpam who was on duty guarding the lower waiting room door and asked for permission to load goods onto the ship through the waiting room.

The Ditpam member on duty then asked for the items to be loaded onto the ship. After checking, the items were secured by Ditpam members together with the Team Commander and Batam Agricultural Quarantine officers at the Sekupang Domestic Port.

"We also asked for information from another witness with the initials OY because he helped bring the goods from the residence of the owner with the initials ST at the Golden Land Housing to the port. ST itself is currently in Pekanbaru, "explained Kurniawan.

After preventing the delivery of the Prohibited Goods, this case was then transferred to the Batam Agricultural Quarantine officer for further processing, where the animals and plants will be returned to ST as the owner on the condition that they fulfill the agreement.

The agreement is not to repeat the activity and undergo the process according to the applicable laws and regulations. Then do not transport the goods before obtaining the results of the identification of the Batam Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) team.

The last is to report to Batam Agricultural Quarantine and BKSDA before moving the animals and plants from Batam to Pekanbaru.
