Batam, Batamnews - All physical projects carried out by the Batam Government are being rushed towards the end of the year. The project is targeted to be completed by December 2021 at the latest.

Head of the Department of Highways and Water Resources (BM-SDA) of Batam, Yumasnur said that so far the physical project has reached 80 percent. One of them is the roundabout project at Simpang Basecamp, Sagulung, which is already in the paving process.

"For this first stage, the asphalting has not been carried out thoroughly, only the roundabout will be paved this year, the others will be paved for the next stage next year," said Yumasnur, Tuesday (11/9/2021).

He explained that in this first stage, according to the target, the work on the roundabout will be completed in December. And after that, road users can enjoy the roundabout.

"It is hoped that the roundabout can overcome traffic jams on that road," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of Batam, Amsakar Achmad said that until November 2021, the physical project work process was going well.

During the evaluation meeting some time ago, it was reported that all the planned physical projects had no problems or were delayed.

"It's going smoothly. So if it's 11 months now, all OPD leaders are committed to completing the proper workload," said Amsakar.

The physical works carried out in 2021 include the Tembesi intersection, Basecamp intersection, further work from the Kara intersection to Kepri Mal, and various other projects.

Currently, for road construction at the Tembesi intersection or known as the Barelang intersection, a large roundabout has been formed, which can be passed by vehicles.

Meanwhile, the road infrastructure is temporarily made up of two left and right lanes. The plan is to build a fountain inside the roundabout.

"If, at Simpang Barelang, we will make a big roundabout in the middle of the road," he said.
