Batam, Batamnews - Fishermen and fishery entrepreneurs in the Riau Islands reject PP number 85 of 2021 concerning Types and Tariffs for Types of Non-Tax State Revenues Applicable to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

Not only PP number 85/2021, but they also reject the application of the Ministerial Decree (Kepmen) of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries number 86 and 87 of 2021.
 
Deputy Chairperson of the All Indonesian Fishermen's Association (HNSI), Eko Fitriadi said the rejection was due to the high increase in levies on fishery products which reached 400 percent or 4 times.
 
"This is burdensome for fishermen and fish entrepreneurs," said Eko when after the gathering between HNSI and fisheries entrepreneurs at the Swissbel Hotel, Batam, Riau Islands, Friday (1/10/2021).
 
They considered that the regulation made the standard price of fish too high, and did not match it in the field.

Even though the operational costs of the ship are also high, and the catch in the last 2 years or during the Covid-19 pandemic has decreased, one of the consequences is climate change.

"Please review the government, because the impact is severe for the wider community," he said.

Eko said, based on data from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, there are 200-300 ships over 30 GT in Riau Islands. And each ship consists of 8-9 crew members (ABK).

However, they will make several efforts, from the results of the gathering, they agree on several proposals that have been mutually agreed upon. The proposal will be submitted to the Governor of Riau Islands.

"The next step, our proposal, we convey to the governor," he said.

Representatives of fishermen and fisheries entrepreneurs in Karimun Regency, Reference also conveyed the same thing. They objected to the regulation.

"The catch is reduced, entrepreneurs are also unable to pay PNBP if it is not reviewed by the government, we plan to go on a mass strike, not to go to sea," he said.
