Fisherman Disappeared after Canoe Hit by Tugboat in Lingga Water Area

Tanjungpinang - A fisherman disappeared after a canoe he was using overturned was hit by a tugboat in the waters of Pulau Buaya, Lingga, Wednesday (23/9/2020).

Head of Basarnas Tanjungpinang, Mu'min, confirmed that there was a deadly accident in the water area of Pulau Buaya, Lingga Regency.

"The information we got was like that, between wooden canoes and tugboats," he told Batamnews, Wednesday (23/9/2020).

Mu'min explained that the wooden canoe carried two passengers and currently one person named Syaiful (24) was reportedly missing and is in the process of searching.

"They both, one survived by the name of Arya (21) and Syaiful has not been found. For the detailed chronology we cannot yet. Currently the focus is on the search for victims, "he concluded.

As is known, the search for Syaiful's victim involved joint elements, including the Tanjungpinang SAR Office, the Lingga SAR Alert Unit, the Riau Islands Police, the Lingga Police, Lingga BPBD and local communities.
