Batam, Batamnews - Mass vaccination of students was carried out by the Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association (Apindo) Riau Islands, Tuesday (17/8/2021).

Located at the Satisfied Heart Resto, Batam Center, thousands of students were given injections of the Sinovac vaccine. This activity also coincided with the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

The chairman of Apindo Riau Islands, Cahya said that his party supports the government's efforts to resume face-to-face learning processes in schools.

In this activity, 7,676 students were targeted to be given vaccine injections. "We deliberately held vaccinations only for students (today)," said Cahya.

On the sidelines of vaccination activities, at 10.17 WIB, Apindo Kepri invited the students participating in the vaccination to listen to the Indonesia Raya anthem as a form of celebration of the seconds of independence.

"We are backed up by the Korem, TNI, Polri. So we ask them to lead us to a sense of our nationality. This is important for students and I'm sure all will be touched," said Cahya.

Vaccine participants who attend must wear their school uniforms. Some wear red and white clothes.

The vaccination committee also provided them with red and white masks and two hand flags each that could be held by vaccine participants.

"We see the achievement of vaccination (Apindo) has reached 70 percent, for adults. While for children, it's still 31 percent. And Batam is the lowest in all of Riau Islands. The second vaccine is even more concerned. Only 3 percent of 31 percent," he said.

Furthermore, said Cahya, Apindo will focus on youth vaccines. If the achievement can be 100 percent, face-to-face at school can at least be done.

"Technically, registration is open through schools, later the school will give us the list. When the school is finished, we will open it to the public who are students," said Cahya.
