Large-Scale Marine Patrol in Karimun Waters Involves 7 Vessels

Karimun, Batamnews - The Karimun Police Satpolairud together with other maritime agencies in the Karimun Regency area held a large-scale marine patrol, Thursday (10/6/2021).

This patrol takes a route from the Port of Telaga Riau Kolong, Karimun District, towards the Gelam Strait waters, and the waters in Meral District.

The members of the patrol are the Riau Islands Regional Police Polairud and Karimun Resort Police, Tanjungbalai Karimun KSOP, Karimun Service BC, and Riau Islands DJBC Regional Office and KPLP, with 7 vessels belonging to each agency.

Head of Polairud Polres Karimun, Iptu Binsar Samosir said that the patrol activities are also accompanied by law enforcement if violations are found.

"The patrols that we hold are to prevent any illegal activities, smuggling, and those that are destructive and detrimental to the economy of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," said Binsar.

The officers who joined also conducted inspections of ships passing from outside or about to leave Karimun.

"For ships, no violations were found, so they can carry out loading and unloading activities," he said.

In addition, in carrying out patrols, officers also give the advice to ship crews to apply the Covid-19 health protocol.
