Batam - The first stage of Covid-19 vaccination in Batam is scheduled to start on January 15th, 2021. The vaccine is currently on its way from Tanjungpinang to Batam using RoRo ship.

Head of the Health Sector of Batam Covid-19 Task Force, Didi Kusmarjadi, said that vaccination will target all health workers in this first stage.

"It will be on January 15th. God willing, it can be done," said Didi, Tuesday (12/1/2021).

Currently, 5,700 health workers have been recorded.

Of the 6,000 doses in this first batch, there are still 300 health workers remaining. This rest is intended for health workers who have not been registered.

Didi confirmed that vaccinations could be done because the Emergency Use Authorization was officially issued by the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) on Monday (11/1/2021).

"The EUA was issued by BPOM last night. So the vaccination can be done," he explained.

Besides health workers, several public officials are also vaccination recipients.
