Batam - Daily Coronavirus cases in Batam, Riau Islands increased by 53 cases on Friday (18/9/2020). The addition of these cases today was a new record for Covid-19 cases in Batam.

The record for the addition of previous daily cases occurred at the end of August to be precise on Thursday (27/8/2020). At that time, there were an additional 46 cases in one day.

Data from the Batam Covid-19 Task Force Team as of Friday (18/9/2020), stated that the 53 new cases consisted of 32 men and 21 women.

Dominated by private employees and entrepreneurs. The distribution of these new cases is in 8 sub-districts on Batam Island.

From the results of epidemiological investigations that were continuously carried out by the Batam Covid-19 Surveillance Team for all clusters, it was concluded that there was an increase in the number of new cases due to a decrease in the level of community discipline in implementing health protocols in various daily activities.

"So this will allow the growth of COVID-19 cases related to the various clusters or new cases that have occurred both from local and imported transmissions," said Batam Covid-19 Task Force Team Health Division Head, Didi Kusmarjadi in writing.

With an increase of 53 cases, the accumulative number of Corona cases in Batam reached 1,089 cases. In detail, 636 people had recovered, 411 people were being treated and 42 people died.
