Batam - Mayor of Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands, Syahrul died after being treated for more than two weeks due to exposure to Corona. Syahrul died at Raja Ahmad Tabib Hospital, Tuesday (4/28/2020).

In its journey, the Covid-19 virus did not only infect Syahrul. This virus made the Syahrul family a separate transmission cluster after a number of family members have been exposed to Corona.

It was Syahrul's wife Juwariyah and her personal doctor who were exposed to Covid-19. Following that was Syahrul's grandson who was still in elementary school.

Dozens of Syahrul family members must undergo a swab test, the results of which are planned to be announced today, Thursday (4/30/2020). In addition, a number of journalists who have had contact with the mayor must undergo quarantine.

So far the initial source of the virus that infects Syahrul is still mysterious. But from the track record of Syahrul's activities, it is known that he had traveled to two cities.

"Lastly, Pak Syahrul's official trip out of the region to Padang and Lampung. This is what we suspect of transmission to Mr. Syahrul," said a spokesman for the Task Force for the Handling of the 19th Covid Handling of Riau Islands Province Tjetjep Yudiana, Wednesday (4/22/2020).
 
In addition, Syahrul is also said to have been in contact with the Jamaah Tablig group in Tanjung Pinang. This group is also one of the major clusters in the transmission of Covid-19 transmission in Riau Islands capital.

In fact, according to Tjetjep, Syahrul was able to perform prayers in congregation with the Jamaah Tablig group.

"This is the second report that we suspect after we trace the history of the exposure of Pak Syahrul's corona virus. However, all of this needs certainty to take the responsibility, and so far we have not concluded it," said Tjetjep.
