Batam, Batamnews - The Batam Health Office (Dinkes) will register children aged 6-11 years to get the Covid-19 vaccine after BPOM issues registration permits for emergency use of Sinovac vaccines for children.

The head of the Batam Health Office, Didi Kusmarjadi, said that his party was requesting data on the number of children aged 6-11 years from the Batam Population and Civil Registration Service (Disdukcapil).

"The data is not a problem. Yesterday we asked Disdukcapil, but they said they would be sent later. It is possible to finalize the data for children aged 6-11 years," said Didi, Tuesday (2/11/2021).

He explained that based on implementation information, vaccination for the age group 6-11 years old will be held in early 2022. Previously, children aged 12-17 had already received registration for an emergency use permit of the Sinovac type.

According to him, vaccination for elementary school-age children (SD) is indeed necessary, because currently the face-to-face learning process (PTM) has been opened.

"The spread of the virus to children exists and they also have interactions with parents. So they must and need protection in their bodies, to fend off virus attacks," he said.

Previously, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) approved the use of the Sinovac vaccine, both CoronaVac and Bio Farma's Covid-19 vaccine, for use in children aged 6-11 years. This approval was given based on the consideration of the results of the assessment of the efficacy and safety aspects.
