Sending Cocaine Via Batam Post Office, British Citizen Arrested

Batam, Batamnews - A British citizen was arrested in Batam, Riau Islands related to narcotics cases. He was arrested by the Customs authorities.

Batam Customs official, Undani, said the British citizen who was arrested was a man with the initials IDB. He was arrested after trying to send narcotics of 2.77 grams of cocaine and 10 pills of ecstasy through a post office.

"The suspect was arrested last Thursday (25/5/2021)," said Undani, Thursday (3/6/2021).

The discovery of this case began with the post office officer examining the item through an X-ray machine that resulted in an image of the item in the form of pills showed up.

Furthermore, the Customs and Excise officer then ordered the Batam post office officers to open the item so that a physical examination could be carried out.

After being revealed, officers found a tool in the form of a leg hair remover. Then, there is a plastic packet of medicinal powder covered with aluminum foil and 10 pills in the form of a pink pill.

After testing the content at the Batam Customs Commission's laboratory, the powder is a location weighing 2.7743 grams and the red pill is an ecstasy pill weighing 3.5133 grams.

Customs officers coordinated directly with the Riau Islands BNNP to arrest the owner of the goods. As a result, an IDB was arrested in a luxury apartment in Batam City.

"The man was secured based on ownership of the goods to be sent," said Undani.

The British man was then handed over to the Riau Islands BNNP along with evidence for further examination.
