Tanjungpinang - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Riau Islands Province approved the victory of the pair Asnar Ahmad-Marlin Agustina as the winner of the Regional Head Election for the Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau Islands for the 2021-2024 period.

The Plenary Meeting of the Candidates for the Governor and Deputy Governor of the Riau Islands was held by the KPU of Riau Islands at CK Hotel Tanjungpinang, Sunday (21/2/2021).

The plenary meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the KPU of Riau Islands Sriwati, and four members of the KPU Kepri who were held in private.

However, the only candidate who attended the plenary was Marlin Agustina. Ansar Ahmad was not present as well as the other couples.

"This will determine the candidate pair for governor and deputy governor in the Riau Islands regional election with candidate number 3 namely Ansar Ahmad and Marlin Agustina with 308,553 votes," said Sriwari through a zoom meeting.

After reading the results of the plenary meeting, Sriwati then submitted a copy of the Minutes of the determination of the elected Governor and Deputy Governor of Riau Islands.

The Acting Governor of the Riau Islands, Suhajar Diantoro, and several other officials were present.

Ansar Ahmad-Marlin Agustina, chairman of the winning team, Ade Angga, when confirmed that Ansar Ahmad's absence at the plenary meeting said, Ansar Ahmad on the same day and time there was an event in Jakarta.

"Pak Ansar happens to have an event in Jakarta. However, God willing, he will attend the Riau Island's Regional House of Representatives," said Ade.
