Batam - Illegal activities still occur in the area of the Hang Nadim Air Force Operational Safety Area (KKOP), Batam, Riau Islands.

Not only the findings of illegal pig farming, but also environmental destruction activities, namely illegal sand mining.

This is illustrated by the findings of Batam Hang Nadim Airbase and BP Batam Ditpam. The agency confiscated a sand vacuuming machine and then set it on fire on Wednesday (17/2/2021) afternoon.

Head of Hang Nadim Air Base Operations, Major Lek Wardoyo, said that previously his party and BP Batam Ditpam officers had warned the illegal miners, but they were ignored.

The joint team immediately took action and managed to secure 6 sand extraction machines at several points.

"We have secured 6 sand suction machines and confiscated them. We also burn all the goods, so that there will be no more illegal sand mining in the KKOP area, ”said Wardoyo.

Wardoyo explained that the action was carried out because it could be dangerous, causing damage to the buffer of the Hang Nadim area of Batam.

"We will carry out this activity continuously, both with socialization and firm action from the authorities," he said.
