To Anticipate Crowds, There Will Not Be Fireworks Celebration in Batam

The Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi.

Batam - The City Government (Pemko) of Batam prohibits any crowds on New Year's Eve 2021. For this reason, it is not allowed to hold fireworks for New Year celebrations in Batam.

The Mayor of Batam, Muhammad Rudi, said the ban on fireworks was a government measure to enforce health protocols. He was worried that if there was a fireworks party, there would be a crowd.

"We have to realize together. This is our effort to stop the spread of Covid-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19)," said Rudi, Wednesday (30/12/2020).

Rudi also advised that Batam people should be relieved because this New Year's celebration is different from previous years. He also said that the security forces would hold patrols on New Year's Eve.

"Don't crowd, don't ignore health protocols," he said.

Rudi also did not tire of reminding the public to implement health protocols such as wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance (3M). The move became a bulwark against Covid-19.

"Continue to apply 3M, and we also hope that vaccines will soon be sent to the regions as a solution to solving the Covid-19 problem," he said.
