Acting General Manager of Batam Hang Nadim Airport, Benny Syahroni, confirmed the incident.

"We are currently coordinating with Lion Air, it happened in Lampung," he told Batam News via telephone, Sunday (20/12/2020).

The chronology and current condition of the passengers were not yet known. "Soon we will notify you again after I coordinate with Lion Air," he said.

Albar, one of the passengers contacted by Batamnews said that the plane had landed on the track, but when it slid down the runway after landing the plane suddenly went off course. Several passengers reportedly panicked.

"The plane had successfully landed on the track, but when it was on a straight track the plane lost control due to rainy weather, causing the surface to become slippery. Then the plane swerved to the left so that it came out of the track and was on the grass," he explained via a Whatsapp message.

He said about 60 more passengers on the plane. "More than 60 passengers. The schedule (from Batam) is 12.50 WIB, but there was a slight delay so that at 13:45 the new plane flew from Batam," he explained.
