Tanjungpinang - Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has set a plan for the Covid-19 immunization in the Riau Islands Province in February 2021.

The number of people in the Riau Islands Province who will get the Covid-19 immunization is 1.47 million people.

Head of the Riau Islands Province Health Service (Dinkes), Mochammd Bisri, said that the 1.47 million population is 67 percent of the total population in the Riau Islands Province.

"The target for Riau Islands residents to be immunized follows the allocation given by the Ministry of Health," Bisri said, Wednesday (28/10/2020).

Meanwhile, Bisri continued, the technical implementation of the immunization is still waiting for further instructions from the Ministry of Health.

"Immunization will be carried out starting in February 2021, but regarding the schedule and procedures and places, there are no operational and technical guidelines. We are waiting for the regulation," he explained.
 
It is known that the implementation of Covid-19 immunization, based on a letter issued by the Director-General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Health Number SR.02.06 / II / 0950/2020 dated 19 October to all Heads of the Provincial Health Office.

The contents of the letter are about the notification of the plan to implement the Covid-19 immunization. Where the contents of the letter are stated, the Covid-19 immunization will be given in stages starting November 2020.

Meanwhile, the priority of residents who will get immunization is the vulnerable group aged 18-59 years. Consists of health workers, health worker assistants, and officers at health worker facilities.

Then, officers in public services, such as members of the TNI / Polri, airport, and port officials. Firefighters, PLN officers, PDAM officers, and some other community groups related to public services.
