Batam - Batam Government will immediately form a Covid-19 vaccination team. The team will be under the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19 in Batam.

Acting Mayor of Batam, Syamsul Bahrum said this was a preparation for mass vaccinations by the government.

"This team anticipates preparations for a mass vaccine," said Syamsul, Monday (5/10/2020).

He explained that the team began to form on the background after the Covid-19 zoom meeting on Saturday (3/10/2020) night. Not only focusing on handling Covid-19.

"But also so that we can focus on other treatments," he said.

Regarding the team, which was considered early enough, Syamsul said that his party was deliberately doing this as anticipation if the vaccine was distributed to regions later.

He said that the team consisted of a sub-district head, village head, all heads of Puskesmas and Posyandu. It is estimated that there will be hundreds of vaccinators.

"From the team, we mapped out of the 1.3 million inhabitants of Batam, all of them must be vaccinated without exception," he said.

He added that giving this vaccine the priority is given to medical personnel, the second priority is to parents who are susceptible to disease, the last is to officials.

"The team is currently preventive non-vaccine. We have asked Bapelkes to prepare training facilities," he said.
