The Rise of Batam`s Industrial Sector

The Head of the Batam Manpower Office, Rudi Sakyakirti.

Batam - The industrial sector experienced a crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic due to delays in the delivery of raw materials to Batam. However now, the condition has started to improve.

The Head of the Batam Manpower Office, Rudi Sakyakirti said, the rise of the industrial sector in Batam can be seen from companies that increase working hours or overtime.

"Starting from the addition of working hours to meet requests from outside," said Rudi on Monday (7/20/2020).

The delivery of raw materials that had delayed before had enough to affect the company's production system. "Because raw materials are starting to run smoothly, they are pursuing more production," he said.

Some companies also re-recruited employees to meet the target orders from Europe, Japan, and other countries.

"This proves that the order has returned smoothly after being stalled several months since Covid-19. It means that the industrial sector is returning to its normal stage," he explained.

Regarding the impact of the Singapore recession on the industrial sector in Batam, Rudi said that so far there had been no effect. This was because the results of the production of goods in Batam are not sent to companies in Singapore.
