Batam, Batamnews.co.id - A foreign national from Singapore fell victim to extortion last Sunday (3/9/2023) in Batam. Two suspects, residents of Batam, were subsequently arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Lubuk Baja Police Station.

The extortion took place when the suspects posed as providers of same-sex massage services to the victim. The initial meeting between the suspects and the victim occurred in the Nagoya Thamrin area.

"Yes, it's true. Both suspects offered same-sex massage services to the victim," said Lubuk Baja Police Chief, Kompol Yudi Arvian, when contacted on Monday (16/10/2023).

Both suspects, identified only by their initials TK and B, were arrested in two different locations: Bukit Senyum area and Hang Nadim Batam Airport.

After the initial encounter, the suspects and the victim exchanged contact numbers and agreed to meet again in the Nagoya Thamrin area on Sunday (3/9/2023).

"Around 6:00 p.m. local time, both suspects contacted the victim to confirm the massage booking," added Kompol Yudi Arvian.

Upon the suspects' request to be picked up, the victim then invited them to a hotel located in the Pelita area. However, upon arrival, the suspects immediately threatened the victim.

"A total of Rp 1,000,000 was taken from the victim's wallet, along with 3 credit cards and a mobile phone. The total loss suffered by the victim amounts to Rp 7,720,000," revealed Kompol Yudi Arvian.
