Batam, Batamnews - PT Makmur Elok Graha (MEG) highlights that the megaproject development of Rempang and Galang Islands in Batam, Riau Islands, is not aimed at competing with Singapore. Instead, the company focuses on collaboration and complementary development of the area.

Fernaldi Anggadha, Commissioner of PT MEG, revealed that the development of Rempang and Galang Islands is based on the concept of Rempang Eco City with green development principles.

The project includes industrial zones, tourism, agro-tourism, and an eco-friendly new city. "We are not aiming to compete with other countries. We collaborate and manage together," said the man known as Aldi, in Radisson Hotel in Batam, on Monday (17/4/2023).

In developing this project, PT MEG collaborates with BP Batam, the government, and various other parties. Besides managing the area, PT MEG also plays a role in attracting investors and preparing master plans according to spatial planning.

Aldi is optimistic that the development of the Rempang-Galang area will create profitable synergies for all parties, including Singapore.

"The development of this area is expected to improve the welfare of the local community, including fishermen and the native Rempang community. PT MEG is committed to providing supporting facilities such as integrated settlements, modern markets, community health centers, schools, and others," said Aldi.

In addition, the company also plans to improve the skills of the community through a skill education center to compete with foreign workers.

The Rempang-Galang project emphasizes Batam's position as a globally considered city for investment and tourism.

Through collaboration and complementary area development, PT MEG hopes to have a positive impact on the economy and welfare of the Batam community, while also fostering harmonious relationships with neighboring countries such as Singapore.
