Former Employee Stole Gold at Tanjungpinang Jewelry Shop

Tanjungpinang, Batamnews - The Tanjungpinang City Police arrested a perpetrator with the initials SH for allegedly breaking into the Deni Permata Gold Shop on Jalan Gambir Tanjungpinang, Monday (19/4/2021) yesterday.

The Police Chief of Tanjungpinang, Iptu M. Arsha said that the burglary action was revealed after the shop owners installed CCTV cameras because they often lost gold.

"How many times have it been stolen, then we urge you to install CCTV," he said, Thursday (19/4/2021).

He conveyed that the arrest of the perpetrator was based on evidence of CCTV camera footage.

"Caught in the hands of the reporter, with the help of CCTV then the reporter contacted the Tanjungpinang City Police," he said.

He said the perpetrator with the initials SH was a former store employee and committed theft by duplicating shop keys while working at the place.

"With this fake key the perpetrator stole gold," he said.

From the results of the interrogation, the perpetrator had three times stolen the gold shop. He managed to steal 33.67 grams of 22-carat gold valued at IDR 23,754,000.

"The suspect was charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code, paragraphs 1 to 5 concerning Theft and Objection," said the police chief.
