Residents of This Housing Are Worried about Possible Tower Fall

Tanjungpinang - As a result of a landslide that occurred near the hill of the Hang Lekir Residence Cluster Housing area, Jl Hang Lekir, Tanjungpinang, a 40-meter high tower was threatened to collapse.

The stone wall that held the tower foundation belonging to this private telecommunications provider landslid. Currently, the condition in Tanjungpinang is still raining and the potential for extreme weather, such as Saturday (2/1/2021), will re-occur.

One of the residents, M Alamsyah, said that several residents who live close to the tower have been evacuated. This was to anticipate if there is heavy rain and the possibility of the tower collapsing.

"The residents who live below are worried because the land and the stone wall of the tower have collapsed," said Alamsyah, Sunday (3/1/2021).

Residents are still worried even though the tower has been fitted with wire slings. "We asked the tower to be moved because it is dangerous if there is another heavy rain," he said.

Head of Batu IX Urban Village, Tanjungpinang Timur Subdistrict, Said Fatahullah, said that at least 20 houses would be threatened if the tower fell.

"There are more than 100 houses in the housing complex, but 20 are seriously threatened, so they asked to be moved," he said.

Reportedly there will be a special meeting between residents and the telecommunication tower manager.
