Batam - The second wave arrivals of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) had begun on Thursday (5/21/2020). There were around 293 Indonesian citizens (WNI) returning to their homeland from Malaysia.

Batam City Regional Secretary (Sekda), Jefridin said the return of the Indonesian citizens was scheduled at 10:00 WIB and at 12.00 WIB using two ships.

"They returned through the Batam Center port," said Jefridin, while leading a return meeting for Indonesian citizens at the Engku Putri Stage on Wednesday (5/20/2020).

Indonesian citizens who arrived from Malaysia would be examined according to the health protocol. In addition, each citizen will undergo a swab check.

"Then they will undergo quarantine, swab tests, no more rapid tests," he said.

While waiting for the results of the swab test to come out, all repatriated Indonesian citizens would undergo quarantine in Batam. But for their location, it has not yet decided.

The Head of Batam Class 1 Port Health Office (KKP), Achmad Farchanny said that in accordance with the circular, every Indonesian citizen and citizen who arrived, must include a health certificate and the results of the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) examination and were declared negative.

If the conditions do not met, he said, for Indonesian citizens need special treatment such as a rapid test. If the rapid test results show non-active, Indonesian citizens will be quarantined centrally 7-10 days until the second rapid test.

"If the second test is non-active, then they can go home and carry out an independent quarantine at home," he said.

As for foreigners, if they enter without completing the conditions they must be returned to their country or denied entry into Batam, Indonesia. The health certificate and PCR results must be issued by the country of origin.

"The letter issued has a certain period of time, which is 7 days," Achmad said.
