Tanjungpinang, Batamnews - The Riau Islands Province (Kepri) Tourism Office (Dispar) will make several lighthouses in the Riau Islands Province a new tourist destination.

The Head of the Riau Islands Dispar, Buralimar said that his party had offered a proposal for 9 lighthouse locations to the Navigation District as the owner of the lighthouse, to be developed into a new tourist destination.

"For the initial stage as a pilot project, it will start to survey the location of the lighthouse in Nongsa, Pulau Putri, Batam. The lighthouse was built during the Dutch era, so far it is still good," he said, Tuesday (11/16/2021), as reported by the Riau Islands provincial government's official website.

Buralimar continued, in the near future his party will start discussing aspects of legality, land status, and the potential for the development of the lighthouse site.

Then, understanding and regulating business actors, communities, existing groups, and coordinating with beacon guards in the field.

In addition to the lighthouse on Putri Island, the Riau Islands Disparate has also recorded some lighthouses in other regencies/cities in Riau Islands, which have the potential to be worked on as lighthouse tourist destinations.

Such as Karas Island, in Batam, Terkulai Island, in Tanjungpinang, Berakit, in Bintan Regency, and Berhala Island in Lingga Regency. Some of the lighthouses there, he continued, were built around 1886 or during the Dutch era.

"So, apart from natural charm, historical (value) is also there. One day there will be international festivals there, such as jazz, and jet ski,” concluded Buralimar.
