Three Covid-Positive Ship Crews, MV Meratus Quarantined for 5 Days in Bintan
Bintan, Batamnews - The MV Meratus Kampar was quarantined for 5 days by the Tanjungpinang Port Health Office (KKP) at the Sri Bayintan Kijang Port. The quarantine was imposed because it was found that several crew members of the cargo ship tested positive for COVID-19.
According to information received, the MV Meratus Kampar came from Tanjungpriok Jakarta and rested at the Sri Bayintan Kijang Port, Bintan Regency, Saturday (17/7/2021).
Then the Tanjungpinang KKP took a swab to be tested for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). As a result, the 3 crew members of the ship were declared positive for COVID-19.
The head of the Tanjungpinang KKP, Agus Jamalaudin, confirmed that three crew members of the MV Meratus Kampar were positive for COVID-19 from the results of the PCR test. Now the positive crew has been undergoing healing isolation at Lohas Hotel, Toapaya District.
"Arriving at the Port of Kijang, we immediately tested their PCR and found that there were 3 crew members who were positive for COVID-19," Agus said yesterday.
The implementation of the PCR test on ship crews coming from outside to the Riau Islands area refers to the Circular Letter (SE) of the National Covid-19 Task Force Number 14 of 2021 regarding the provisions for travel for domestic people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, based on the Decree of the Governor of Riau Islands Number 536/SET-STC19/VII/2021 and SE Number 539/SET-STC-19/VII/2021 concerning Provisions for Domestic and International Traveling People Using Public Transportation in the Context of Preventing the Spread of Covid-19 in Riau Islands Province.
"There are 16 people on the ship who are in close contact with the 3 positive COVID-19 crew, so they must undergo quarantine on the ship so that the ship does not sail and is still leaning at the Port of Kijang until now," he explained.
