Export Value from Batam in April 2021 Reaches 929 Million Dollars

Batam, Batamnews - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that the export value of Batam, Riau Islands in April 2021 reached US$929.02 million, an increase of 1.71 percent compared to exports in March 2021.

The increase in the value of exports in April 2021 was caused by an increase in the non-oil and gas sector by 1.98 percent. When compared with the same month the previous year, Batam's exports increased by 35.20 percent, from US$687.13 million to US$929.02 million.

The increase in export value in April 2021 compared to April 2020 was due to an increase in exports from the oil and gas sector by 72.83 percent and the non-oil and gas sector by 32.36 percent.

Total cumulative exports for January - April 2021 Batam was US$ 3,484.02 million. When compared to the total cumulative exports of January - April 2020, it increased by 11.63 percent, from US$ 3,120.99 million to US$ 3,484.02 million.

The increase in export value from January to April 2021 was due to the cumulative increase in exports of the non-oil and gas sector by 12.53 percent. The cumulative export value of Batam contributed 69.68 percent of the total cumulative exports of the Riau Islands which were valued at US$5,000.19 million.

The export destination country for Batam in April 2021 with the largest value to Singapore, which reached US$387.87 million. This figure has decreased compared to the situation in March 2021, which was down 1.27 percent but increased by 59.54 percent compared to April 2020.

Then the second largest export destination country during April 2021, namely the United States, reached US$195.46 million, an increase of 1.43 percent from the previous month.

Meanwhile, the import value of Batam in April 2021 reached US$915.91 million, down 9.92 percent compared to imports in March 2021. The value of oil and gas imports in April 2021 reached US$4.45 million, an increase of 6.27 percent compared to March 2021. Meanwhile, the value of non-oil and gas imports in April 2021 reached US$911.46 million, down 9.99 percent compared to March 2021.

During April 2021, the largest non-oil and gas imports were machinery/electrical equipment with a value of US$447.52 million, or 49.10 percent of the total non-oil and gas imports.

And the largest supplier of imported goods in April 2021 was occupied by China with a value of US$267.39 million with a contribution of 29.19 percent.

The largest import unloading port during April 2021 was Batu Ampar Port with an import value of US$632.62 million, followed by Sekupang Port with an import value of US$248.07 million, with the contribution of both reaching 75.23 percent of total imports.
