The Customs and Excise of Riau Islands Detains Vessels Carrying Tin Sand in Natuna

Karimun - The Riau Islands' customs patrol detained the captain of the vessel crew, KM Jasmine, in Natuna Waters, Saturday (28/11/2020). The vessel contained 20 tons of unlicensed tin sand.

A total of 400 tin sandbags containing 50 Kg, along with a skipper SO and 4 crews when secured by BC.

"The tin sand, the vessel, along with the skipper and crews have been secured and are in the process of further investigation," said Head of the Regional Office of the Riau Islands, Agus Yulianto, Sunday (29/11/2020).

Agus stated, in accordance with the Minister of Trade Regulation Number 04 / M-DAG / PER / 1/2007 concerning the Export Regulations for Tin Bar, tin that can be exported is with a minimum metal bar content of 99.85 percent. Meanwhile, semi-finished tins, including tin ore or sand, are prohibited for export.

"KM Jasmien, is suspected of violating Article 102a of Law No. 17 of 2006 concerning amendments to law number 10 of 1995 concerning Customs," said Agus.

The customs authority is still carrying out further investigations regarding the origin of the goods and the purpose of sailing.
